Happy, Happy New Year
Happy new year to you all!
I have been hiding at home in Toronto working on new melodies and lyrics, and some of them are slowly growing into new songs. Some of those songs will see the light of the stage this spring, too. I’m happy to announce some new tour dates in Europe and Canada, with more show announcements coming soon. I’m very excited (and nervous!) to be performing with the Hamilton Philharmonic in just a few weeks, and from there I will be back in Europe – I can’t wait to come back to Spain and I’m really happy to be a part of the Cross Linx Festival in the Netherlands…I’ll be bringing some new magic tricks with me. See you soon.

NEW TOUR DATES THIS FALL
Basia Bulat should be exhausted by now, but she’s not.
After performing at folk festivals across Canada early this summer, she hopped in the van with her band and performed in New York City’s Central Park, playing alongside Tune-Yards and St. Vincent.
She then flew to Europe for a solo tour, which included sold-out performances at the prestigious Øya Festival in Oslo, Norway with Owen Pallet and at Way out West in Gothenburg, Sweden with Taken by Trees. She spent a few days off in a beach town on the coast of Sweden, tried her hand at windsurfing, wrote some songs, and photographed double rainbows while riding a bike down quiet roads. Basia’s been performing new songs and also covering Abner Jay’s “I’m So Depressed” to great response. www.youtube.com/watch.
And her touring doesn’t stop yet! This fall she gets back in the van with her band for a small co-headlining tour in the US with friends The Acorn and then flies to the west coast for some solo shows, including a stop at the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival in San Francisco, a show at the Echo in LA with First Aid Kit and an in-store at the amazing Old Style Guitar Shop in Silver Lake. The National recently made the same stop: www.youtube.com/watch. From there she will travel to Austin to perform at the Austin City Limits Festival, make a quick stop in Toronto to pick up her parka, and head to Iceland for a performance at the Iceland Airwaves Festival.
Less than a week later she’ll be back on home soil where she will take the stage in Halifax with Symphony Nova Scotia, debuting orchestral arrangements written by Owen Pallet. The concert will include songs from both her albums Oh, My Darling and Heart of My Own and is part of the Halifax Pop Explosion. To close out the fall Basia will be traveling across her home and native land, supporting Josh Ritter on his Canadian tour from Ottawa to Vancouver and will play a show of her own in Victoria to end the tour on Nov 5th.
And there may just be more dates to follow. We’ll let you know soon!

Basia Bulat brings Heart back to Canada for the summer
Basia Bulat is not done sharing her Heart with Canada! She’s been all over the world since the release of her sophomore album Heart of My Own in January, and her nationwide tour that followed. The US, the UK, Poland, Sweden; the list of countries that have taken her into their hearts just seems to grow and grow. But in June she returns home to kickoff a summer schedule that’s heavy with love for Canada, playing both intimate shows and some of the country’s biggest summer festivals.
She returns to Toronto on June 4th at the Phoenix for the first time since her sold out album launch in January, visits Quebec City for the first time this year and plays three consecutive nights at the Montreal International Jazz Festival, and will appear at Hillside in Guelph, Bluesfest in Ottawa, and the Folk on the Rocks Festival in Yellowknife. She’ll also be headed down to New York in August for a show with St. Vincent at Central Park Summerstage.

Basia on the cover of Uptown Magazine
“Released on Jan. 26, the record boasts lush, textured soundscapes that evoke pretty, pastoral settings (think: rolling hills, billowing clouds, perhaps a cow) with Basia’s warm, golden vocals streaming in like sunshine.”
